Christmas and Holiday Special! (Winnipeg Photography Specials)

Christmas Special!

November is the time to get your pictures taken for the family Christmas card. I don’t design or offer Christmas cards, so I am making digital images available without the purchase of a print. That way you can use one of the many templates found online for your cards.

Of course, prints will still be available, but for this special you will receive 2 high-resolution digital files of your choice. We will use 2 backdrops in a 40 minute session. This can include up to 5 people.

The first 3 people who contact me will get an additional savings of $50. I will need a $50 deposit to reserve your spot and then an additional $30 when you come for the session; a savings of $50. Don’t delay, as I will have a limited number of spots available.

This does not include newborn sessions, as it would be nearly impossible to do a newborn session in 30 minutes.

Fall Sessions

I had a very busy fall season this  year and I want to thank all of the clients who booked a session, There are very few leaves left on the trees but if you are interested in an outdoor session in the next couple of weeks, I can find some spots with colourful leaves or evergreens as a backdrop.

Here are some of the images from the fall sessions:

And Finally,

Many of you have met my dog, Zara. This week, I wanted to try creating a bokeh effect in the studio with some new lights. I didn’t have a model available, so I decided to use my dog.

Our dogs are never  allowed in the studio, so I had to put a leash on Zara to get her down there. The image below shows the look that Zara gave me. It’s the same look she has when she thinks she’s in trouble.

It’s titled “Obedience with Disdain”.

It’s been a very busy week here. I want to thank all of these families for braving the cold weather to do these fall sessions. I don’t think it’s going to warm up so I’m glad we did them last week.

Here are six beautiful families!

A Beautiful Couple! (Winnipeg Couple’s Photography)

This beautiful couple is living in 2 different countries but have now been together for 2.5 years. Long distance relationships are hard but I think these 2 have what it takes to make it work.

I enjoyed getting to know them and taking their pictures.

Have a look at “A Beautiful Couple.”

Beautiful Miss A! (Winnipeg Photographers)

One of the things I love about my job as a photographer is the interesting people that I meet and these last 2 sessions are perfect examples.

I meet people from all over the world that are in Winnipeg to pursue their chosen profession. This beautiful lady came from Nigeria and Australia and now works as a Chemist at University of Manitoba. She gave herself a photo session for her birthday. What a great idea!

Great Session on Waterfront Drive! (Winnipeg Portrait Photographers)

I love photographing children but it’s always nice to do a session with someone who actually wants to have their picture taken and that was the case tonight with this young lady on Waterfront Drive.

The temperature was finally conducive to being outside and the mosquito population seemed to be down because of the strong winds.

Here’s a sneak peak of this session:

The Perfect Christmas Gift! (Winnipeg Christmas Gift Ideas)

What is the perfect Christmas present? I’m sure that a lot of us are asking this question right now What can I give to a special someone  that will be appreciated and treasured.

I think that buying someone a gift certificate for a photography session is as perfect a gift as you can get. Many people with small children cannot afford to get a professional portrait done of their child or their family. It’s a gift that will be treasured for years to come as the receiver looks at the photos and remembers that time in their lives.

I offer gift certificates at all times, but for the next 3 weeks I’m going to offer a “Buy One, Get one Free Special.” That means, you can buy one gift certificate for $100 and get another one free.

And it’s easy too. Just send me an email at chrismcwilliamsphotography@gmail.com with the particulars and I can get a customized gift certificate(s) ready for you.

If you are concerned that all you are giving is an envelope, why not also buy a picture frame to wrap and put the gift certificate inside. A note could be put inside the frame that says,”Fill me with an image of ______________.”

The best part is that you get to avoid the malls to do your shopping!

November Newsletter! (Winnipeg Photographers)

Winter is Here!

Whining about winter!

I try to be a positive person but winter is not my season. I don’t like the dark, the cold, the isolation, the icy roads, the blustery winds and a host of other stuff. I walk outside in the winter and I don’t mind that. I dress for it. But I really hate driving in the winter and I really hate how early it gets dark. But anyone who wants to live  in Winnipeg has to put up with winter and so I do. I like living here and I plan to move. I’m thinking of going somewhere hot but not sure where.  Let’s see: Hawaii, Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, ………………………………….

How about the rest of you? How do you cope with winter? I could use a pep talk on why I should like winter.

This is Kilcona Park. Yes, hoar-frost is beautiful and is one good reason to like winter.

I haven’t done a newsletter for a long time because I’ve been so busy shooting and editing and working on orders. It’s all good. Even in the winter! But I am taking a break from all the other things that I need to do to write to you about what is new here at ChrisMcWilliamsPhotography.

New Package

I like to try out new price categories and this one has been very popular lately.

10 digital images plus 5×7 prints of the images for $185

One of the reasons that I introduced this category is because of my belief that images should be printed and displayed. It’s great to have digital copies of your files but I feel it’s also important to display prints of your favourite images in your home and office and  I often wonder how many clients who buy digital files will have prints made.

The other reason is because, if I include the print, I know how it will look and can assured of its quality. I have my prints done at Don’s Photo on Main and I recommend them to clients. I urge you to avoid Walmart or drug store kiosks for printing. The quality is not good and will not reflect the work that I put into your images. I want you to have the best quality for a reasonable price.

Christmas cards

I’ve had some people ask if I design Christmas cards and the answer is that yes, I do. I can do a custom design for you or you can make up your own card on my website. Yes, you can design your card right on my website, using your images and make any changes to it that you would like. Just start by clicking on the “add to my cart” button on any image and follow the links.

And just in time for Christmas, I am offering a coupon code for 20% off all cards. This offer is good until Dec. 7th, so don’t delay! You’ll need to hurry on this offer as my website provider always states that shipping takes 3 weeks. I’ve had orders come in a week or 10 days but I guess they say 3 weeks to be on the safe side.

The code is “xmascardspecial.” Just type in the code when you place your order and you will save 20%!

This is a screen shot of one card that I made up in 5 minutes!

Groupon

Thank you to all the people who bought my latest Groupon. Don’t forget that this one expires in 6 months and not a year. And please remember that if you bought a Groupon before and are interested in another session, that I will do your session for the Groupon price. Why give Groupon 45% of the money?

So for $55, I will do your session and include prints of one image!

Your Galleries

A huge “thank you”  to all my clients who have placed an order in a timely fashion.

I like to keep galleries listed for a 2 week period but I am open to keeping your gallery listed a little longer. I understand that sometimes your lives are more hectic than other times and you need more time. Having said that, I won’t keep your gallery listed indefinitely and will move it to the archives if I don’t hear from you. However, should you decide to place an order at a later date, just send me an email and I can relist it. But have no fear, I never delete your images. They are safely stored in the Smugmug Vault!

WE DAY

It was my pleasure to once be a WE DAY photographer. This year I followed Craig Kielburger, one of the founders around. I was at the gala event the evening before the main event and then followed him around the entire day of We Day. I thought that Craig was a quiet, possibly even introverted man, who is not at all like his stage persona. He was very considerate of everyone that he came in contact with and seemed to genuinely care about others. It was an honor to spend time with him.

Here are a few highlights of the 2 days, starting with me on stage!

And Finally

That’s it for today!

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Xmas! (Winnipeg Portrait Photographers)

It wasn’t the best of mornings today. My car wouldn’t start and I was supposed to be at the Ledge at 11:00.  A big Thank You to the family who agreed to reschedule for tomorrow.

But my day has turned around. First of all, I discovered that I had Roadside Assistance and didn’t have to pay for the boost and then this lovely couple came for their Christmas portrait. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Here’s a preview of today’s session.

Presenting the Kids of 2012! (Winnipeg Child Photographers)

My last blog post was about the newborns of 2012. These are the kids of 2012.

It was time consuming to gather up all these images but also very rewarding.  I love looking at all the beautiful faces of the children that I’ve met in this past year.

It feels monumental to me to have captured these moments and to see them all on one page!

Here are some quotes that ring true for me regarding my photography.

“Time will never stand still and those moments that bring us such joy become memories in an instant. To capture such a moment and record it forever is truly monumental.” – Joshua Atticks

A Beautiful Winter Day at Kilcona (Winnipeg Portrait Photographers)

WOW! What a great day! I am getting over a bad bout of bronchitis and my energy levels are not back to normal; so the fact that today’s sessions were easy and fun, made a world of difference.

My first session was at Kilcona and it was lovely; both the park and the people and most especially, as very fun dog! Being a canine lover, I always enjoy sessions with dogs.

Here’s a preview of this session:
