Here are more pictures of these stunning young women who graduated from Miles Mac Collegiate this year!
I hadn’t done any photography sessions for over a month. That has been my choice. I don’t feel safe having people in my home studio with Covid cases being so high. I have a husband who has lymphoma and I want to be extra vigilant about exposure, especially with the new variants. My husband is fine right now and we want to keep it that way.
Now that we have warm weather and the leaves are out on the trees, I will do sessions outdoors. The session that I am featuring today was done on my property and the family shown lives right around the corner from us!
I love the picture below. Our neighbour’s dog, Gypsy, saw us outside and came over to visit. Gypsy was excited to give me hugs and kisses and didn’t want to leave. Usually, I welcome Gypsy, but in this case, I needed her to move, but the whole interaction gave us this wonderful picture!
After Gypsy left, we were able to get a posed image.
I loved photographing these 2 beautiful girls; aged 6 and 8. Aren’t they lovely?
I did 2 more fundraising sessions this week for Spirit of Hope Rescue. I’m really enjoying meeting and photographing these dogs and their owners.
Yesterday, I had the 3 dogs shown below come with their owners. Each dog had a different personality. The black dog would bark and bay in response to my woofs and the big white dog would wander around the studio checking things out and happily accepting treats. The little white girl is blind, quite quiet and very cooperative. She even managed the stairs with no problem. BTW: I had to do one head switch for this picture. Can you tell which dog?
These 2 had just gotten engaged so we did a few pictures without the dogs. Actually, the dogs were under foot but it didn’t matter!
Today I met this lovely girl named Lady and she really was a lady! Lady didn’t want to be still for pictures and found the smells in the studio very interesting. The only way to get her to stay still was to give her treats or get her to shake a paw.
This is the beautiful Lady:
Spirit of Hope Rescue is an amazing organization that rescues dogs from 38 Northern Manitoba Indigenous communities and finds them forever homes. In 2020, these hard working, dedicated people rescued 546 dogs and processed 1395 adoption applications. They have rescued over 3500 dogs in the last 9 years! We’ve adopted 2 of their dogs and it both cases it was a wonderful experience.
I started a photography fundraiser to help with SOHR’s vet costs and other expenses that occur when you have as many as 115 dogs in foster care at one time. These expenses include blankets, kennels, leashes, collars, food and large vet bills as many of the dogs are not well.
Here are some of the dogs that have come for a photography session with their owners for this fundraiser.
I love dogs and I really enjoyed meeting these dogs and their owners. Plus I want to continue to help this organization, so I am continuing this fundraiser for the next month.
Contact me if you are interested in booking a photography session for your dog. All you have to do is call or message me at 204.962.3424 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can set up a time for you and your best friend. The cost is only $50 ($150 value), which is paid directly to SOHR (https://spiritofhoperescue.ca). There is no obligation to buy any more than the one 8×10, which is included with this cost.
I hope to hear from you.
I love meeting families and photographing their children while they grow up. It has been very rewarding to have done 8 sessions with this beautiful family over the last 5 years. I was currently working on a First Year Plan for their youngest son, but because of Covid we didn’t get the 4 sessions done in a year. L is 19 months old now and his big brother is 5. Aren’t they adorable?
It was my pleasure to photograph the newest addition to this family; their 2 week old daughter. She was an absolute doll to work with and even gave me a smile!
Lucky Mom and Dad to have these 2 beautiful children. Have a look!
This is an unprecedented and scary time in the world. Cases of Covid and deaths continue to rise in Manitoba.
Things improved in the summer and I was able to open my studio and do some wonderful portraits, but now that can’t happen. Our case numbers in Manitoba are too high and the cost would be too great if my clients or I became ill. I’m happy that I was able to do some fall sessions outside, but the weather isn’t cooperating to do that now in November.
So things are slow.
I miss photographing newborns. I haven’t felt that it was safe to do newborn pictures at any time since the spring. I have newborn outfits that I haven’t used and new Christmas backdrops that I can’t use. I know that many businesses are suffering and it is best to close shop. It is better to be safe.
GIFT CERTIFICATE SALE
If you are looking for a Christmas gift for someone on your list, why not consider a gift certificate for photography? And to help you with that, I am offering a gift certificate sale.
For a limited time all gift certificates will be 20% off. That means if you buy someone a $300 gift certificate, it would cost $240; a savings of $60. For the $240 that you would pay, the recipient would receive the session plus $220 worth of products, such as 4 8x10s or a couple of 16x20s.
The gift certificate would be valid for all of 2021.
It’s an easy gift option for you and you wouldn’t need to leave your home to purchase it. I could email the gift certificate to you or print it and put it into the mail for you.
Don’t delay. This offer is good until Dec. 10th. Get your Christmas shopping done now and support a local business.
Another great Christmas gift idea is to have some old faded photographs restored. Here are some examples of pictures that I’ve restored.
It’s amazing how much information can be restored in old photographs!
Estimates for photo restoration are based on how much time it would take me to restore your photo and would depend on how much damage there is in the original print.
This is another gift that you would not need to leave your house to purchase. The original could be mailed to me or you could send me a digital copy by email. I would mail the restored print back to you. It would be a very safe and simple procedure.
Yours in Photography,
Today I am featuring 2 of my favorite kids; my great niece and nephew, who I have been photographing since they were born. Sarah has just turned 17 and Nate is now 15.
There are many features around our property that work well for photographing people; including the train tracks (which I know you are not allowed to be on, but the train seldom comes and when it does it goes really really slowly), a forest of pine trees, a farmer’s field and lots of colourful trees. We did this session right around our property.
Have a look at these amazing kids:
It was a lovely evening last night when we did a family session for this beautiful family. The sun was out, there was no wind and the temperatures were mild.
I enjoyed photographing these cute kids!
Have a look:
We were at the lake on the weekend where the fall colours were amazing.
When we got back to our house, we were shocked to see that the trees had lost 90% of their leaves. The trees with the beautiful red colours were bare! I had counted on fall colours for a family session. Fortunately, the trees at the back of our property still had leaves on them.
So that is where we did the session with this good-looking family. I enjoyed meeting and photographing them.
