I noticed that there was a new Book of Awesome out at the bookstore today and it got me thinking about my own list of awesomeness. I have so many things to be grateful for that it is hard to know where to start but here it is; in no particular order.
Coffee: the first sip of coffee in the morning, the smell of coffee in the coffee isle at the grocery store, a latte at a coffee shop. Yes, coffee is on my Awesome List.
Sleeping with my grandson and 2 dogs; Yes, it is a little crowded, yes, my dog kicked the other bigger dog off the bed last night, yes, my grandson flings his arms around in his sleep and smacks me in the face. All of that, but I wouldn’t trade the memory of sleeping with him and 2 dogs for anything.
Scrabble on my IPhone: I am totally addicted. I could sit all day in my pajamas and not move. But I don’t. I make myself only play at the beginning and end of the day and when I can’t sleep during the night and if I’m stuck in traffic, or if I am waiting somewhere and have 30 seconds and when I’m eating. You get the picture. Pretty much every free moment. The challenge is to improve the stats. There are a few people out there who are better than me; one being my daughter-in-law, who is my main competitor.
My iPhone: Besides Scrabble, I can do almost anything on my phone. It never ceases to amaze me how technology has progressed in the last 10 years. I remember teaching children to log onto the old computers. It was a million, very complicated steps and then it never worked that well anyways.
Red Wine and Dark Chocolate: Separately or together, but together is even more awesome. I just had some of each. Heaven!
Going to Phone a friend and having the phone ring and seeing that it is your friend calling you! I love how the forces in the Universe work!
Holding a newborn baby but not having to change its diaper or stay up at night to look after it. Newborns are my favorite clients. They are the most work, newborn sessions take the longest, but there is something so satisfying and rewarding about a newborn session that nothing can compare.
Grand Beach: The sand, the water, the breeze and the heat. This is summer. Going to Grand Beach with my family is even more awesome!
Family: My whole family, 14 of us, were here last Sunday. It was so much fun and the best part was that I got to take pictures of us. Sometimes it feels like the shoemaker whose family goes without shoes. It’s hard to get everyone in the family together as one of my sons lives in Calgary. But last week it happened and I have the photos to document it. So awesome!
Friends: Connecting with old friends that have known you forever and that you have been through all kinds of things with. New friends that you discover have so much in common with you. Friends are the chocolates chips in the cookies of life.
No schedule: When I was in the classroom, everything went according to the clocks. You went to the bathroom at 10:30, you had lunch at 12:00, you taught Math at 9:30, English at 11:00 and your days went like clockwork. I love not having to watch the clock for when I can pee. I love not having to get up at the same time every morning, I love that my days are all different, I love naps and working till 2:00 a.m. if I want to. I love having holidays when I want them. All awesome!
I could go on and on but those are the top things that come to mind.
Take a minute and think about what would be on your list of Awesomeness. Let me know what you come up with!
Love your list. We share many of the same “awesomes”. Must be because we are related!
We are so much alike! Love that.

Great list. I love to chocolate chip analogy. Lol.
Enjoyed reading your awesome list! many of my awesomes are related to family, friends and nature too. The scents and sounds in the forest in early spring or fall, the sound of the first robin in spring, or the first frogs calling as the ice is melting. A morning or sunset almost anywhere or the northern lights on a dark night, the sound of fresh snow crunching, walking in a fierce blizzard in a warm coat–all neat stuff. Certainly red wine and dark chocolate are up there with other fav foods!!
